EclipseWorld
Last week, we had the opportunity to participate in EclipseWorld 2006 at the Hyatt Regency in Cambridge, MA. From a pure PR perspective, the event was a success. I had a chance to talk with some reporters that cover our space that are usually only voices on the other end of a phone line or words in a string of emails.
IONA also was able to generate some positive visibility for our efforts in leading the SOA Tools Platform Project at Eclipse and drive some attendance to a presentation given on the state of the project by IONA's own Oisin Hurley. He's already provided links to some of the editorial coverage for the event at his blog. But, I'm told that linking is everything in the blogosphere, so I've also linked to Micheal Meehan's piece at SearchWebServices, Paul Krill's story in InfoWorld and Rich Seeley's SearchWebServices EclipseWorld preview piece.
But what may have been the most interesting part of my few hours at the show was listening to folks who stopped by the booth talk about some of the IT challenges they were facing and how/why they were evaluating SOA to get the job done. It looks like the SOA hype is really starting to become a SOA reality.
Many thanks to Steve Vinoski for getting me up and running and giving me the push I needed to get started.
