CORBA did what?
Just explain one thing to me, Mark: how can you possibly claim that CORBA failed? By what definition or measurement has it failed?

Savas mentions the SSDL paper he co-authored being accepted for Doug Lea's, Werner Vogels, and my special issue of Internet Computing on asynchronous middleware and services. Their paper is very good, so make sure you read it once it's published (around January 15th).
I thought I'd mention that Internet Computing was recently ranked #2 in terms of software engineering citations, according to the Thomson ISI Journal Citation Reports (JCR).
What does this mean? It means that next time you want to publish an article with high impact, you should submit it to IC. I'm on the IC editorial board, and we're always looking for good articles in the broad areas of distributed systems and networked applications. It's clear from the JCR ranking that IC will give your article an excellent chance of influencing others' work.
If you have any questions at all about submitting an article to IC, just email me.
